Baby Moon Pillow Review

by Marcie on April 5, 2012

Have your ever gone through an experience with your baby where their poor little head slumped over after they fell asleep? How about an instance where you were worried that due to a certain position they preferred to be in, their head might become flat? I have certainly experienced both of these scenarios and with more than one of my children as well. I’m happy to have found a wonderful product to aide in solving this problem.

The Baby Moon Pillow is a versatile product that serves as a head support AND neck support, all in one small, doughnut shaped, pillow. Invented by Kelly Su, a mom who needed a solution for her then 3 month old daughter Kaitlyn, after being told by her pediatrician that Kaitlyn was developing positional plagiocephaly, or flat head syndrome. Since her baby wasn’t a fan of tummy time or lying on her side, Kelly knew she needed a better solution in order to avoid any further intervention. That’s when she developed the Baby Moon Pillow! Three months later Kaitlyn’s pediatrician was impressed at the major improvements shown from using the pillow. It was time to produce it for the public and make it readily available to parents everywhere, facing a similar problem.

Head Support
From ages 0-6 months, the Baby Moon Pillow can be used as a head support in a car seat, swing, bouncer, or simply when lying down. Just overlap the right arm over the left arm of the pillow. Thanks to a small piece of Velcro on the Peek-A-Boo cover, it will create an opening while providing comfortable placement and optimal positioning.

Neck Support
From 6-12 months, the Baby Moon Pillow can be used as a neck support in a car seat, swing, or stroller. Simply turn the Peek-A-Boo cover inside out to hide the Velcro in order to avoid skin irritation. Please note: *It should not be used as a head support or pillow to sleep on for any infant over six months of age or for any infant that can roll over from back to front, as this may cause a suffocation hazard.

The Baby Moon Pillow is available in solids, stripes, and polka dot prints, with an organic line on the way. It is made 100% in the USA and machine washable. I love the idea of this pillow and can’t help but wish I had access to one during the time in my life when I was having babies. I can not tell you how many times I found little necks drooped and tiny heads slumped over in car seats, bouncers, etc. even with those standard head support items. Thankfully, the Baby Moon Pillow is here now and Baby B doesn’t have to go through this annoying problem.

We received a Baby Moon Pillow in Sage. I love how soft our pillow is. Basically like crushed velvet and the perfect amount of cushion for a fragile baby head. Since it’s versatile and has two different uses, it can be used for an entire year, as well as re-used for future little ones. That makes it a perfect investment! I do hope there will be an opportunity to purchase additional covers for the Baby Moon Pillow in the near future. That way if you had the opposite gender next or simply wanted a new cover for a new baby, you could do that without needing a whole new pillow. That would be the icing on the head support perfection cake!

Buy It
The Baby Moon Pillow retails for $27-$28 and is available for purchase directly on the Baby Moon website as well as many retailers found on the Baby Moon Where To Buy page

BabyMoon Review & Giveaway!

The inspiration for the BabyMoon pillow and neck support was born when the owner of Baby Moon’s daughter’s head was starting to become flat. Being the designer she was, she created an this pillow, which is now known as the Baby Moon pillow and neck support! Her daughter used the pillow consistently for a couple months, and her pediatrician noticed great improvements in her head shape!

I was sent the Brown Dot Cuddle BabyMoon pillow. Retails for $28! We use this when Ryan in in his bouncer, playing on his activity mat and since moving him to the regular part of his stroller we’ve used it there as well! I think this is an awesome product because you can use it for multiple things and it’ll last you a while so you’re getting your money’s worth. The BabyMoon pillow is intended to be used as a head support (0-6 months) and neck support (6-12 months) while the baby is AWAKE. Shipping was suuuuuuuper quick and they have great customer service! I highly recommend this

Product Review: Baby Moon Pillow

29 Feb

The founder of the Baby Moon Pillow, Kelly Su took her own experience as mom to come up with this genius product that may even help in saving the lives of babies. Kelly’s design philosophy is to create functional products with modern style at an affordable price for all parents.  The guiding principals of  the Baby Moon pillow and neck support is to alleviate “flat head syndrome”. This condition occurs when one or more joints between the bones of the skull close up too early and the baby’s head becomes deformed. Most pediatricians suggest trying repositional therapy.
We had one of our mommy testers who was having a similar experience with “flat head syndrome” try out the Baby Moon Pillow and this is what she had to say:

“This pillow was truly one of the best products we have tried.  Our daughter, Dawn Skye, had just been to the pediatrician and she noted that Dawn was started to get flathead.  We were instructed to do more tummy time and not allow her to lay on the back of her head so much.  Well, she was far from crawling at that point and loves her swing, so we knew we were in for a challenge.  Then, we received the baby moon pillow and all that changed.  The baby moon pillow is so versatile!  Additionally, ours is super cute with chocolate fabric and pink polka-dots.  It fits perfectly in her swing and car seat.  It is soft and quite cozy for her.  She loved it almost immediately.  Importantly, after a few weeks, we slowly started noticing a difference with the “flathead” syndrome.  The baby moon pillow is donut shaped with a hole directly in the middle.  So, the sides of the baby’s head are completely cushioned while the back (soft spot) of the baby’s head is no longer lying flat on any surface!  Months later (Dawn is 10 months today) she no longer has flathead.  Her pediatrician noticed after only a couple of months.  Now that she is older she likes to pull it from behind her head and play with it, then toss it to the ground–that just comes with the territory of babies growing up, crawling, and learning to walk.  We keep the baby moon pillow in her car seat and swing, especially for road trips and when she falls asleep in her swing.  Bottom line, we LOVE this product and would recommend it to all new mommies and daddies!”
Our fabulous Mommy tester is Mrs. Dedree Miles, who is an attorney in Las Vegas, where she, her husband and baby Dawn Skye reside! Check out a few pictures of baby Dawn Skye!
